The gospel is for all. Is it really? John 3:16-17 states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.” Later in the same chapter we read about John the Baptist who makes this passionate statement regarding Jesus, “The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. He who believes in the Son has eternal life,…
In 1519, the Spanish explorer and conquistador, Hernando Cortez, decided that he wanted to seize the treasure that the Aztecs had been hoarding. He took 500 soldiers and 100 sailors and landed his 11 ships on the shores of the Yucatan. Despite the large army under his command, he was still vastly outnumbered by a huge and powerful empire that had been around for 600 years.
Some of his men were unconvinced of success, and being loyal to Cuba, they tried to seize some ships to escape to there. Cortez got wind of the plot and captured the ringleaders. He wanted to…
There was absolutely no toleration of "another gospel," even if an angel should preach it (1:8-9). Nor could its…
Solomon once wrote that “there is no new thing under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). Certainly that saying is true with reference to the arguments that a swelling “progressive” element within the church is employing in defense of the idea that the use of musical instruments is permissible in Christian worship. Or at the very least, they allege, the issue…
ABORTION: WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTION
(David Padfield)
In the first chapter of Romans the apostle Paul listed the sins of the Gentiles. In this heinous list of crimes we find the phrase "without natural affection" (Rom. 1:31, KJV). This refers to those who do not possess the love and attachment which nature teaches all mothers to have for their young."This expression denotes the want of affectionate regard towards their children. The attachment of parents to children is one of the strongest in nature, and nothing can overcome it but the…

Some sage has wisely observed:
“We often speak of ourselves as those who are in the land of the living. In fact, we dwell in the land of the dying, and should be looking forward to someday entering the land of the living, who shall never die again.”
I like that statement! It is in harmony with what the Bible teaches. None of us would question the reality of our mortality. We know from both observation and from scripture that, “It is appointed unto men once to die” (Heb 9:27)
But have you ever been in a situation, where you thought…
Our Parents (Mt. 10:21, 34-37). As much as we should love and respect our parents, we cannot establish right and wrong on the basis of our parents alone.
Our Conscience (Acts 23:1; 26:9-11; 1 Tim. 1:12-13). Even though our conscience can be useful, we may still be wrong even though our conscience doesn't bother us. Paul had followed his conscience even when he was a persecutor.
Emotions & Feelings (Pr. 14:12; 28:26; Jer. 10:23). Just because something "feels"…
SOME OF THE DESIRES OF THOSE WHO FOLLOW CHRIST
(by R.J. Evans)
The word "desire" involves a strong feeling of wanting something or wishing for something to happen (Webster). I find it interesting that there are 154 references to the word desire, 53 references to the word desired, and 42 references to the word desires in the Bible (NKJV). Some of them are in reference to what God desires for man. Many of them pertain to man and his desires---some good and some bad.
In a brief manner,…
