THE PROPER SOURCE OF AUTHORITY
"Now when He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people confronted Him as He was teaching, and said, ‘By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority?'" (Matt. 21:23).
The chief priests and elders who confronted Jesus were asking legitimate questions. Jesus needed authority for the things He did in the temple, and this authority had to come from the proper source.

We all want to belong and to be part of the group, but it is quite a different thing to have a seat at the table. In business, having a seat at the table means that you are a valued individual. It is a recognition that your voice is important, and you were chosen to participate as part of the group. In Mark 14 we read of an example, where Jesus sat down at the table for Passover with the twelve men he selected as the Apostles.
