“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doc­trines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiv­ing by those who believe and know the truth” (1 Timothy 4:1-3; emphasis added, JRG).

Since “forbidding to marry” is listed among the doctrines of demons, should Christians support the rights of homosexuals to marry? Are we under the influence of deceiving spirits when we oppose such unions?

            There are some things I like about the modern Easter celebrations. Ham, boiled eggs, and the chocolate peanut butter eggs you can get for half-price the next day certainly make the list. Old habits are hard to break!

That statement is much more than an old adage, for anyone who has ever tried to stop biting their nails, sought to break the nicotine habit, or tried to change their eating habits knows how difficult it can be to eliminate long-established practices from one’s life. And when it comes to the spiritual realm, old, sinful habits are just as hard to break as relatively insignificant things like biting one’s nails.
