We Could Do It!

By Greg Gwin You have, no doubt, seen those mathematical calculations about how long it would take to convert the whole world to Christianity if every Christian would convert just one other person each year. The analysis goes something like this: If you begin with just one true believer, and he makes one convert in a year — at the end of the first year there would be two Christians in the world. If both of these convert another person in the next year, after two years there would be four Christians, and so on. Charted out, it would look like this:

Year# of Christians122438416532664712882569512101,024112,048124,096138,1921416,3841532,7681665,53617131,07218262,14419524,288201,048,576212,097,152224,194,304238,388,6082416,777,2162533,554,4322667,108,86427134,217,72828268,435,45629536,870,912(surpassing total U.S. pop.)301,073,741,824312,147,483,648324,294,967,296338,589,934,592(surpassing total world pop.)

In less than 33 years the whole world could be reached — and that's if we started with only one Christian! But, the slow years are already covered — we have way more than just one Christian. For instance, if there are already one million true believers, we could reach the world in less than 13 years. We're not saying it would be easy, or that all could/would be converted, but the numbers tell a tale! Let's get busy!!
