“Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.”
Perhaps you have heard that quotation before. It has no doubt been repeated many times in sermons or articles such as this one.
However, there is something strangely ironic about it. It comes from a play by Oscar Wilde and was actually spoken by a self-serving, hedonistic man who scoffed at morality and lived solely for pleasure.
LESSONS FROM A FEAST IN BETHANY
John 11:1-11 contains the record of a feast which was given for Jesus in Bethany. Three of the gospels record this same event (Matthew 26:6-13; Mark 14:3-9; John 12:1-11). There is also the record of a similar account recorded exclusively in Luke 7:36-50. However, some regard all four of these account to refer to the same feast.

A CHILD-LIKE FAITH
John 9 records the story of a blind man to whom Jesus gave sight, the consequence of which was that not only did the man have the blessedness of precious sight, but the miracle Jesus worked on him produced a trusting faith which was child-like in its nature.
